Diversion

In situations when the county prosecuting attorney's office determines that a juvenile may benefit from attending programming without the formal filing of a delinquency or unruly child complaint, the juvenile may be diverted or directed out of the juvenile court system. If the juvenile successfully completes the diversion program, the prosecuting attorney may choose not to file formal charges against the juvenile. If the juvenile is unsuccessful or uncooperative in completing the diversion program, the prosecuting attorney may choose to file a delinquency or unruly complaint against the juvenile.
